Hey guise..

On a random note I just got a pinterest account. If any of you are there I follow back and would really like to see more real things being pinned. I’m not leaving tumblr I have a policy that the more interfaces we can use to get the word out about global events the better. Pinterest really needs more REAL things posted. Don’t get me wrong I like pretty pictures and DIY cleansers but there is some srs shi- going on in the world my friends. I’ll be there posting recipes, art, and lulz but ALSO global protest as I do here and on twitter.. so if you are interested follow me on pinterest!

“A Melbourne builder has inadvertently destroyed a valuable piece of street art by the British graffiti artist Banksy, by drilling a hole through it to put in a bathroom pipe.Melbourne resident Tina McKenzie told Australia’s Network Ten that she had lived above Banksy’s Parachuting Rat for almost a decade.“Anybody that understands street art and recognises it as more than just vandalism understands that it is something we need to preserve,” she said.It is the third work by Banksy in the city to be destroyed within two years, including one that was painted over in 2010 in a council clean-up.Jacqui Vidal, a local gallery owner, said the council needed to be more careful in avoiding the destruction of graffiti artwork.“There should have been something noted on the planning permit that that Banksy work had to somehow be avoided,” she said.Banksy, whose identity is unknown to the public, first drew attention in the early 1990s with stencilled graffiti seen by some as subversive and by others as satire.”~The Guardian

Lulz/Kitteh Break <3

The Street Art in Athens is beautiful… Save Greece. So much art; so many wonderful artists are being lost in the EU debt crisis. Maybe they aren’t being lost.. Maybe all these world wide problems will be inspiration for a new cultural movement of art…Just an idea.

Poverty has visibly increased on the streets of the capital of four million, where people huddle in sleeping bags in empty alleys and can be seen rummaging through garbage cans for food or scraps of metal or glass to sell. According to the Hellenic Statistical Agency’s first official report in 2012, about 20 percent of Greek citizens, over two million people, are considered poor. The monetary poverty line for Greece is set at the annual amount of 7,178 euros per person and 15,073 euros per household with two adults and two dependent children under the age of 14.”
